Snapshot #150: Marketing Lessons From the First 150 Episodes

This week brings a major milestone for the Snapshot Podcast—we’ve published 150 episodes. So to mark the occasion, we’re looking back on the best advice, lessons, and how-tos our industry experts have offered real estate agents over the past four years.

In this week’s episode, we run the gamut on success in the real estate industry, covering everything from building trust with video marketing, to lifestyle blogging as a lead generation tool, to knowing where to draw the line between your professional and personal life on social media. It’s a jam-packed listen.

To make things a little more digestible—and the takeaways that much more actionable—we’ve organized our curated advice into five overarching lessons. You’ll come to know them in detail as you listen, but consider the below as a bit of a primer.

Lesson 1: Social Media is a Long Game

Everyone is familiar with the concept of going viral. But all too often, agents think that if social media isn’t leading to instantaneous (and outsized) results, they’re doing something wrong.  The truth, however, is that social media success requires consistent and sustained effort. Agents who work towards building a foundation over months and years are much more poised to succeed than those chasing instant gratification.

In our first lesson, we’ll break down the ins and outs of creating a viable, long-term social media marketing plan for your real estate business.

Lesson 2: Give Your Audience Relevant Content

You know the Golden Rule?  Treat others as you wish to be treated.  It’s applicable to marketing as well.  The best content resonates with your audience—it speaks to their problems and pain points and offers tangible solutions. After all, it’s what you’d want if you were in their position, right?

Too bad creating and distributing it is a lot easier said than done.

Fortunately, in our second lesson, our expert content marketers guide you through content strategy so you can strengthen your connection with your community, prospects, and clients.

Lesson 3: Enliven Your Marketing

There are a lot of agents out there.  And there is a lot of boring advertising.  How can you stand out amongst a sea of sameness?

In lesson three, our guests explain how leveraging your personality can make all the difference in winning new business.  They cover:

  • Taking risks and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone
  • Projecting realness and being a human
  • What it means to be authentic

..and more

Lesson 4: Video is Powerful and Popular

When the Snapshot podcast first launched, we covered video as an emerging trend.  Now, four years and one pandemic later, its reign as the king of real estate marketing content is undisputed.

In lesson four, our experts dive into successful video marketing. They speak on everything from how to be more engaging on camera, to maximizing content reach across individual platforms (web, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), to optimizing for SEO in order to increase discoverability.

If you have any plans to market your business in the coming year, you can’t afford to miss this one.

Lesson 5: Think Local

Location. Location. Location.  The most important rule in real estate extends to your marketing.

In our fifth and final lesson, three experts share their secrets to cementing yourself as the go-to expert in your sphere.
